How it works

From the moment a timepiece is on its way to us until it reaches its next destination, every step is recorded, photographed and verified.

The journey of a timepiece through Grail Exchange

  1. Advise us that it is coming

Pre-alert the shipment in My account, or send us a request. We know who the watch belongs to, what should accompany it and what you would like done.

  2. Received and photographed

Each parcel is opened on arrival and photographed as a full set: watch, box, papers and accessories. The watch is placed in our safe, with its box and papers on record.

  3. Inspected

Our technician confirms the serial number, make and model, inspects the watch and prepares a condition report with photographs. Anything missing or different from your pre-alert is brought to your attention immediately.

  4. Payment, when we assist a purchase

With purchase assistance, the seller is paid as agreed with you, and only once the watch has been verified.

  5. Service, only with your approval

Should the watch require a service, polishing or parts, we assess it and provide a quotation first. Nothing proceeds until you approve.

  6. Held or shipped

We keep the watch safely in Hong Kong for as long as you require, or ship it insured, consolidating several pieces where sensible. Box and papers may follow separately.

What our technician examines

The case, dial, movement and inclusions, documented with photographs for the condition report. Anything missing or not as described is reported to you immediately.

Always clear

Two principles we never compromise

Holding is never owning

Receiving or storing a watch never transfers ownership. A timepiece we hold for you remains yours.

Verified before payment

When we assist a purchase, the seller is paid only after our technician has inspected the watch.
